Eugene’s Lament

Oh I am a Barkley through and through,

but I really don’t know what I should do.

Something weird is happening to me you see,

I feel I am starting to cease to be!

The family walk round like they haven’t a care,

as if they can’t see me, as though as I’m not there!

If I speak to my brothers, my sister, my mother,

They all stare right through me and talk to each other!

If I pinch me it hurts, so I know that I’m real,

I can see, hear and think, I can move, speak and feel.

In the first episodes, I had a speaking role,

but now it’s as though I were in a black hole!

Ma, don’t ignore me, I once sat in your lap,

notice me please, go on, give me a slap!

Jarrod, Nick, Heath, I’m Eugene it’s true,

but my brothers don’t see me, they stare straight through.

Audra, dear sister, you won’t let me down,

but she walks right past me and heads into town.

Oh why is this happening? This diabolical plan,

when did I become the invisible man!
