Lorelai is a single mother in her thirties. She had her daughter Rory when she was sixteen. Lorelai moved to Stars Hollow to lead her own life, something she would not have been allowed to do if she stayed with her parents in Hartford. Lorelai was, up until recently, the manager of the Independence Inn, in Stars Hollow. She and her best friend, Sookie, have just purchased the Dragonfly Inn, which they have remodeled, and now opened. Opening an Inn of their own has been a dream of Loreleai's and Sookie's for a long time. Lorelai has had many boyfriends, but the one that avid Gilmore Girls watchers are waiting for is Luke.
