Luke owns the diner where Lorelai and Rory are frequently found. The sign above the diner says William's Hardware. This building used to be the hardware shop that was owned by Luke's father. Luke lives in the upstairs office of the diner. Luke and Lorelai have been friends for a very long time, but Luke has just recently realized his effections for her. This was of course after his short-lived marriage to Talyor Dosse's lawyer, Nicole.
