This scroll is different than anything we've done before. I think it will be best to let my partner explain it:
Dear Readers: During one of our recent brainstorming midnight chats, Shana asked if I had any new thoughts. Somehow the conversation ended up with me asking her to create a situation to document Gabrielle's possible dilemma about her same-sex relationship with Xena. It centers on the time she was searching for the Way of Peace and began following Eli. This happens to be a very personal subject for me. I was raised with a very strict religious upbringing, and same-sex love is not tolerated. Yet when I finally fell in love with a woman, I had never felt happier or more content. I went through such torment for a long time--not being able to decide how God felt about it, yet knowing the love in my heart wasn't evil. It was simply love. We wish to offend none of you out there by including infidelity between our two favorite girls. I firmly believe in their faithfulness to one another. However, this is a one-time situation that is understandable from both points of view. Gabrielle has a spiritual battle with the thought of loving a woman, and in a sense pushes Xena away. Gabrielle is torn and hurting because she can't deny her desire and love for Xena, and Xena is hurting and lonely but trying to understand Gabrielle's feelings. While Gabrielle can't give Xena some sort of confirmation of their future together, another woman enters the picture and you will see how the story unfolds. Xena and Gabrielle are forever bonded, forever in love, and forever together. Shana wrote this entire story, and I think she did an outstanding job. Can you guess who the character Sharona is modeled after? We all loved her in an early 90's movie, and she even appeared as the other half of a gay couple in a short movie a year or so ago. However, if you absolutely cannot see either of our girls having sex with another, then this scroll won't be for you. Also, you'll find Xena's scroll is extremely long...about three times longer than a normal scroll. I hope that's a good thing! DISCLAIMER: Xena, Gabrielle, Yakut, and Otere do not belong to us.
