WWF NEWS/RUMORS

*LUDWIG BORGA Tony Halme, commercial actor, famed boxer, somewhat recognized No Holds Barred fighter. He will be forever remembered by a generation of fans as the evil Ludwig Borga from the WWF. Well he is getting another shot at making national fame here in the states. Tony Halme is going to face off with Henry Akimwade in a WBA #1 Contender bout to Lennox Lewis' World Title. I'm not a boxing expert, but it should be fun to see how good he is as a boxer for the first time.

*WWF TIDBITS The rumor of a New Years Eve WWF PPV turned out to not be true, but actually there will be a New Years Eve special from 11-midnight on New Years Eve but it will be on the USA network. Trish Stratus injured her ankle in the first week of training for the WWF. Undertaker and Ken Shamrock both were in attendance at a recent WWF TV taping. Undertaker will be returning to the ring in Puerto Rico before he comes back to the WWF rings.

WCW/NWO news/rumors

*SCOTT STEINER & TANK ABBOTT According to WCW's Hotline reports former UFC fighter David "Tank" Abbott is studying hard to become a pro wrestler in the Power Plant. He is working with Bobby Eaton on move execution, playing the crowd, and most importantly his cardiovascular conditioning! Without good lungs, you can look like a real jerk in the squared circle. Scott Steiner is looking to return to the ring in later January, he's probably shooting to come back too soon, word is Russo/Fererra can't wait to get Scott Steiner back on the active roster. If I ran the show, I'd feel the same way.

*DON'T CLOCK IN LATE! WCW is having trouble with a handful of stars showing up late for Nitro, the new rule is to show up early so you can rehearse for the segments the creative team spends days planning over. When you show up late and cannot do what they want you to do, you're missing out on your own push and flushing their work down the crapper. So they are thinking about firing the next guy who does it to set an example. Recent offenders are: Lex Luger, Elizabeth, Disco Inferno, and Buff Bagwell.

*WCW TIDBITS At the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade WCW hired a plethora of Sting impostors to pass around the Nitro cologne. Over 200,000 samples of the cologne were given away during the parade. Unfortunately over 20 "Stings" were drug out of the festivities because everybody wanted the free WCW stuff and the parade organization didn't like the large amount of people trying to get free stuff and apparently thought it was a hazard. Something causing a lot of people to leave WCW is contract re-negotiations. The old contracts for mega dollars are all being tinkered with because the older guys with the best contracts aren't worth the money they're getting so Russo and Busch are trying to fiddle with contracts. Surprisingly to me, they are now trying to get Sting on a new contract, they need him under a new contract anyway because he has to work mandatory dates now. I can't believe they would take the risk of losing him by renegotiating his money...Who knows.

* WCW Notes
ABC's "Politically Incorrect" will feature Sting, Bobby Heenan, Rowdy Roddy Piper and Madusa as guests tonight (12/10). Check local listings for times. Roddy Piper's scheduled heel turn has been put on the back-burner because Mark Madden speculated about it on the WCW hotline, resulting in management thinking "since news of the turn has leaked, we have to change plans." The idea was for Piper to be so broken down by the Powers that Be that he'd finally give in and crack, just like Curt Hennig was forced to do. That could also be Larry Zbyszko's fate. The reason Dallas Page didn't want Lex Luger to be clued in to his angle with Buff Bagwell from the taped Thunder was because Luger has a rep for not being able to keep a secret. Dr. Death has no contract with WCW right now and has been working on a per night basis. He will be heading to Japan soon to fulfill a contract and work for the promotion All Japan. Considering WCW's relationship with All Japan's rival New Japan it is not in WCW best interests to sign him to a deal right now. Nitro Girl Storm is playing the role of The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Iaukea's valet that debuted on Thunder. Her new name is Paisley.
