Stefan Pichler, the German group's executive vice-president for sales, said that in 1997, the region accounted for an estimated 19 percent of total worldwide revenues.
"We watch developments very carefully ...and we think with our diversified structure, we will be able to withstand" any effects from the crisis, he said.
Manfred Reiner, Lufthansa vice-president for sales in Asia Pacific, said the airline was looking at increasing its frequency of flights to China and India, and hoped that it would secure rights to fly non-stop on its Manila to Frankfurt and Jakarta to Zurich routes.
