"These are aircraft from within the region," an air force officer announced, as blips shaped like Tornadoes, F-111 and F-18 fighters zoomed across a simulated horizon and anti-aircraft crew shot them down in a hanger made to resemble a gun nest "on a bill in western Singapore".
In another excercise, an F-16 exploded in a computerized fiery ball after making a divebombing run over one of Singapore's habors.
Singapore's government goes out of its way to strenghten friendly relations within the region, although it maintains one Southeast Asia's most sophisticated defense forces.
