Question of alleged assault by
Roger Flores should be prosectuted before
a State Court jury trial
"A case in the Municipal Courts would be in direct conflict of interest
because Roger Flores is a Councilmember and the judges of the
Municipal Court are appointed by the City Council"
"Further, the City Charter specifically states 'neither the Council nor
any member thereof shall give orders to any subordinates of the
City Manager, either publically or privately"
PRESS CONFERENCE
Held on front steps of City Hall
San Antonio, Texas -- "District 1 Councilman Roger Flores has allegedly
commited a battery or assault against a San Antonio Parking Enforcement
Officer. The question of the alleged assault by Roger Flores should be
prosecuted before a State Court jury trial by reason that a case in
the Municipal Courts would be in direct conflict of interest because Roger
Flores is a Councilmember
and the judges of the Municipal Courts are appointed by the City Council.
The City attorneys who would need to prosecute the case may also be directly
or indirectly approved by the City Council," says a spokesman for Citizens
of San Antonio, "COSA."
"Further, the City Charter specifically states, 'neither the Council nor
any member thereof shall give orders to any subordinates of the City Manager,
either publically or privately." (SECTION 47. Charter of the City of San
Antonio).
