STORM MAKING APPEARANCES AT COPPELL TOURNAMENT

March 5, 2002 -The Carrollton Storm took on the Keller Indians Monday night.

Matt started the game on the mound after short notice. However, he pitched well in the first inning, tempting the Indian bats with excellent throws. He caught a pop fly for the first out and followed that with a strike out. The third out was a fielder's choice directly to third base where Foster made quick work of it.

The Storm players weren't afraid of attempting to get the big hits!

Nevertheless, the hits just weren't coming. Michael was able to get on base with a walk, and Steven got a hard hit (unfortunately to the short stop), but at the end of the first, the score was stuck at 8-0 with the Indians in the lead.

In the second inning, Jordan made his way to the mound. He struck out two and Clinton made a third out with a beautiful catch at second base.

In the bottom of the second inning, our bats began to make some noise. Jordan started things off with a hit that was bobbled just enough to get him on base. During John's at-bat, Jordan made his way into scoring position by stealing second and third. Then Clinton hit the first pitch to a confused thirdbaseman and shortstop. They were unable to pick Clinton off at first, and Jordan scored the first run of the season giving Clinton an RBI. Christopher also got on base, sacrificing his wrist along the way, when he was hit by a pitch. He stole second right away, but the next batter struck out leaving him there. The score at the end of the second inning was 17-1

The third inning, the Storm held the Indians better than before. Jordan got a strikeout for the first out. Then the defense got tough. Michael, at shortstop, tossed the ball to Jacob for an out at second base. Then Jacob got the last out with a great catch at second!

Although Richie was able to get on base with a walk, the Storm was unable to capitalize on it, striking out and flying out to end the game.

Final score: 24-1.
