April 20, 2004 visitors against the Lightning Bugs

In the first, Emily started us out with a double up the middle. After a strikeout, Kira hit a double getting Emily in. Ferral scored Kira with a single and Courtney followed with a line drive double out to left field getting Ferral in. Cassidy hit into a fielder's choice when Courtney was picked off at third, but got to home when Katie C. hit a long fly ball (double)past the left fielder. Meredith followed with a double of her own, scoring Katie C. and we ended our half with maximum runs scored! We scored 5 runs.
At the bottom of the inning, the first batter struck out. The second and third batters each hit a single. The fourth batter hit into right field. Although the girls got to the ball quickly, a series of bad throws allowed the fourth batter to make her double into a homerun, scoring 3. The fifth struck out. The sixth batter got a single, but while she was waiting for the next pitch, she took her foot off the base. The umpire had pre-warned the teams that this would be an automatic out, and it was.

Honeys 5 : Lightning Bugs 3

In the second inning, both Staci and Katie hit singles, but we had 3 strike-outs before either of them could score.
It was the same situation for the Lightning Bugs. Although the 1st batter got a single, the next three struck out so the score remained the same

Honeys 5 : Lightning Bugs 3

We started at the top of our order in the last inning, and every bat was better than the one before it. Emily started us off with a single to second base. Monique followed her with a double and got an RBI when Emily scored. Kira scored a homerun when her fly ball to left field was over-thrown as it came in. Ferral's hit that followed bounced past the left fielder and had her running and over-throwing again. Courtney's homerun went clear over the left fielder's head. In fact, she was already passing 2nd base when the fielder reached the ball. That completed our half of the inning with the maximum runs scored - again! We scored 5 runs!

At the bottom of the inning, the Honeys team chalked up some good, old-fashioned defense. The first batter was tagged out by Courtney on her way to first base. The second batter hit a single that was stopped by Abby, holding her on first base. After three more singles scored three runs, Katie and Courtney connected when Katie threw the runner out from right field. On the next batter, Kira, who was at the pitcher position, threw to Courtney at first getting the third out.

Final Score:

Honeys 10 : Lightning Bugs 6
