Honeys 3 : Bugs 0
In the second inning, the Lightning Bugs fared no better. Abby stopped the first and only hit at shortstop, holding the runner at 1st. The second batter struck out. Courtney put out the third batter as she ran to first, and the final batter struck out.
The Honeys were still on top of their game. Staci and Meridith both started out with basehits. After a strikeout, Staci scored on a double hit by Katie B. Meridith was tagged out at the plate as she tried to score. Katie B. was knocked in by Abby's single and Erin followed that with a single of her own. Emily hit next with a zinger to the shortstop who was able to tag Abby as she ran to third base for the final out.
Honeys 5 : Bugs 0
The Bugs were still unable to score in the third although they came very close. The first two batters got singles but were held to 1 base. The next two struck out. Another batter hit a ground ball to short stop where Abby stopped it holding up all the runners. The final batter hit the ball straight to Kira at pitcher who ran it back to the plate to get the runner at home.
The Honey's bats were still alive and kicking in the third. Crystal started out with a single, followed by a double up the middle from Kira. Courtney brought them both home with a double. After a strike out, Katie C. brought Courtney home with a basehit. Staci hit a great hit, moving Katie around to scoring position, but it was directly to the first baseman who was able to tag her out. Meridith and Monique both followed with basehits of their own, and Meridith got the RBI when Katie scored from third base. The two of them were left stranded on base when the next batter struck out.
Honeys 9 : Bugs 0
In the fourth, the Lightning Bugs were finally able to score. After a leadoff strike-out, the next 5 batters hit singles, each able to take only one base when the ball was quickly stopped by Honey defense. Two of those were able to score, but with time expired and the Honeys too far ahead to catch, the game was called.
