Background Information~

The first step towards making the group Aqua was made in 1989 when Claus and Soeren got together and started composing music. They met René during the recording of the soundtrack for the movie "Fraekke Frida". René took the Norweigan singer Lene to Denmark, and together they founded the band "Joyspeed", which got a Swedish contract and achieved a single week on the Swedish chart, with the debut single "Itzy Bitzy". The four members wasn´t quite happy with how things were going and decided to dissolve the contract and start all over. The name Aqua came from a poster in their practice-room, with the word "Aquarium" on it, and from here their new name - Aqua - arose... Shortly after the music started to take shape, and within no time they had signed a record deal with Universal Music
Aqua´s first single "Roses are red" was released in September 1996 and went straight to the charts, where it stayed for several months. The proof that "The sound of Aqua" was missing in Danish music, came when the group recieved platinum for the sale of "Rosed are red", and furthermore recieved a nomination for a Grammy for this years best Danish dance publication. Aqua´s second single "My oh my" was released in Febuary 1997 and went straight to the top on the single chart. They recieved gold after just 6 days, which is extraordinary for a small country like Denmark.
The source of inspiration of the group is wide, from classical to the more rock-like. It is important that everything Aqua does is fun, but sometimes they need to be serious. When you move inside Aqua´s Universe it is like being in a cartoon. The music and the special style of the group, makes Aqua more than just music. There is as much for the ears, as there is for the eyes.
As of now, The album Aquarium is to be released / has already been released in the following countries: Scandinavia - Germany - Austria - Belgium - Italy - England - Canada - Japan.
