Celestial Compromise

The sun faded a little today
People didn't notice, went about their way
I think a star is missing tonight
But it doesn't matter as long as they still keep it bright

Now the moon isn't nearly as bright as the stars
But each night he comes as the father from afar
The sun has faded a little bit today
In attempt to find that star that lost its way

While the moon keeps watch over all the rest
Even though his light is not the best
No one seems to notice but the sun is fading
No one seems to care what the stars are forbading

As the moon tries it's hardest to do it's part
But he knows he's broken the sun's heart
They will never be together in the sky
Because they fought and there are other reasons why

So they take a turn each day it is the sun
And each night out comes the moon when the day is done
Maybe the sun wouldn't be fading quite so much
And maybe we could still feel the warmth of the sun's touch
If the sun and the moon hadn't separated so far
And if they took better care of the stars

Well the sun faded a little more today
People never notice, just going about their way
And I think another star is missing tonight
Soon the sky won't be as bright
