Masked Maidens Poetry Parlor

"Mirror, Mirror"

Jolting from my nights slumber
I sit up and stare at blank walls
Rocking back and forth, I quietly wonder
Rising, I begin to pace the halls.
Night after night I follow this path
Blindly recalling each inch of empty space
Succumbing to knowledge - this being my wrath
Always stopping to view the reflection of my face.

Mirror, Mirror on the wall...
please show the woman
whom I try to recall.
Why do you lie to me
and reflect this horrid being?
Night after night leaving me not
believing what I am seeing.

Mirror, Mirror on the wall...
please show me the woman
whom I try to recall.
Why do you reflect this
old woman drawn and haggard?
Showing me eyes sunken
deeply by sorrows
Darkness glooming from the depths
from which she has staggered
No dreams of joy to hold
onto for her tomorrows

Mirror, Mirror on the wall...
please show me the woman
whom I try to recall.
