Reunited
By Lara

Pacey tossed and turned. He was restless. He glanced at his clock. 2:47 AM. He was too excited, too anxious to fall asleep. After being gone the whole summer in Rhode Island, Andie was coming back to Capeside today. Pacey still didn’t know how he had made it through the summer without her. Making it through finals had been hard enough. But he had passed with flying colors, and was ready to begin the 11th grade, with Andie by his side. It had been so hard without her; day after day without seeing the one he loved. The weekly letters and daily phone calls had just been enough for him to survive. And here it was, only one week until school resumed, and Andie was finally coming back.

He tried to get his mind off Andie, in hopes of getting some sleep.

But even as he tried, he knew it was impossible to think of anything else. He switched his radio on quietly, then immediately turned it off. “Oh, God,” Pacey thought, “If I don’t get some sleep, I won’t be able to greet Andie when she comes home” He rolled over. Somehow, most likely out of pure exhaustion, Pacey fell asleep.

“Pacey?” Andie’s voice sounded so sweet over the phone lines

“Hey Andie.” Pacey smiled as he spoke. “I thought you’d be on the road by now.”

“That’s what I called to talk to you about, Pacey. My dad’s not bringing me home.” Andie sounded as if she had been crying.

“What? Bu-but Andie, you havta come back. You promised you’d be back. School starts next week and . . .” Pacey’s voice quivered.

Just then, Pacey sat up abruptly in bed. He looked around the room confused, unsure of his surroundings. It took him a few seconds to realize that his alarm clock was ringing at full blast. Absentmindedly, he reached over to turn it off. It took a minute to realize that he had been dreaming. He was breathing deeply. Thank God it had been a dream. Andie WAS coming home today, and they’d be together soon. He glanced at his clock. A smile crossed his face once again. Only 4 hours until Andie arrived.
