Pacey Witter threw another potato chip into the water, waiting for a fish to come up and nab it, even though they never did. There had to be about 20 chips in the water right now. He tossed one more in and looked up at his girl friend. Andie was starring off into space hands crossed in her lap, a look of concentration on her face.

"Yo, McPhee, what ya starring at?" Pacey asked as he gently touched her chin with his finger.

"Hmm? Nothing... just thinking." She said, still far away. M

"'Bout what?" Pacey asked, mouth full of potato chips.

"Nothing really..." Silence encased them as they went back to there game of tossing chips into the water for the fish. "Pacey, what do you think the meaning of life is?"

"Have as much sex as possible." He muttered with a huge grin. Andie slapped his arm playfully.

"I'm serious."

"So am I."

She glared at him, and he glared back mockingly.

"Fine. Don't answer." Pacey pulled her against his chest.

"Come on, don't get upset."

"I'm not upset..." She said in a little girl voice as she laid her head in the crook of Pacey's neck. "I just want to know what the meaning of life is."

Silence came over them again for a few minutes. Pacey watched the dancing of the lights on the water as a thought struck him.

"The secret of life..." He mumbled out loud. "The secret of life is nothing."

Andie lifted her head and gaped at him.

"What do you mean, 'nothing'?"

"Exactly what I said. Nothing. There is no secret to life. All we humans do is wander around this planet in search of this secret of life, but the truth is, there's no such thing. They spend so much time searching for something that doesn't exist, they forget about what's right in front of them." He kissed the nape of her neck. "What's real, what's important."

Andie closed her eyes again and leaned back into him. "Maybe you're right, Pacey." She laced her fingers with his and gave his hand a kiss. She looked up to the stars.

"Maybe you're right."
