HARRIS, B. D. , "1ST SERGEANT", Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America on the 01st day of February, 1862, and served “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “I” or “F”, of the 13th Texas Regiment of “Dismounted Cavalry”, “Flowernaughts”, C.S.A., later “Dismounted”. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Orange County, Texas. He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service in June, 1865, by the Officers in Command at Hempstead, Texas. At which time he held the rank of “1st Sergeant”. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor” application…his writing). (note: Company “I” was formed in Orange County, Texas.)
