James Washington Griffin

GRIFFIN, JAMES WASHINGTON, (Plot 6; Evergreen Cemetery), Born: 1848. Deceased: 1917. Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America on the 12th day of August, 1864, and served “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “F”, “Spaight’s Regiment”, “Cavalry”, C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Orange County, Texas. He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service in May, 1865, by General Xavier B. DeBray. At which time he held the rank of “Private”. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor” application…his writing). James’s wife: Elizabeth Griffin received a Confederate Pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 34564. (note: Company “F” was formed in Liberty County, Texas.)
