Jerry W. Lee

Jerry W. Lee b. 20 March 1841 moved to Texas in 1859. He enlisted as a private in the 36th Texas Cavalry, Company K, February 7, 1862 in San Antonio by S.M. Holmes and Lt. Machlin, commanded by Colonel Peter Cavanaugh Woods.
He enlisted with a horse valued at $70 and arms valued at $20. Jerry was detached as horse guard in December of 1862. He is listed as detached 2nd February 1864 in pursuit of deserters. "After marching and countermarching the Texas coast for several months in response to invasion alarms, 157 of Colonel Woods' troopers deserted on the night of February 1, 1864. Granted thirty days leave, Woods followed his deserters, such as Daniel Roberts, to their homes and returned with them to his camp."
After the war he was a farmer and lived in Driftwood, Hays County, Texas where he applied for a Confederate Pension, # 14265. Jerry W. Lee is buried at the Confederate Cemetery, Dallas, Texas
