Josephus Lillard

LILLARD, JOSEPHUS, (Body taken to Kentucky for internment), Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America, in September, 1862, AND SERVED “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “D”, of the 5th Regiment of “Kentucky Cavalry”, C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Napoleon, Gallatin County, Kentucky. He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service in July, 1863, by Commander of “Morgan’s Cavalry”. At which time he held the rank of “Private”. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor” application…his writing). Received a Confederate pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 28516.
