Zachariah Collett Phillipes

PHILLIPES, ZACHARIAH COLLETT, (Plot 2; Evergreen Cemetery), Born: July 27, 1836. Deceased: February 20, 1914. Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America, on the 22nd day of April, 1862, and served “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “C”, 28th “Texas Cavalry”, C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Panola County, Texas. He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service on the 10th day of May, 1865, by being “Disbanded” at Hempstead, Texas, by Brigadier General King. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor” application…his writing). Received a Confederate pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 03206. His wife: Kate Phillips also received a Confederate Pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 29857.
