James Monroe Reese

REESE, JAMES MONROE, Enlisted the service of the Confederate States of America, in May, 1862, and served “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “G”, of the 13th Regiment of “Texas Cavalry”, C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Polk County, Texas. He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service on the 20th day of May, 1865, by Colonel Crawford. At which time he held the rank of “Private”. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor” application”…his writing). Received a Confederate pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 03209. His wife: Mary Ellen Reese also received a Confederate Pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 31172.
