Samuel Wallace Sholars

SHOLARS, SAMUEL WALLACE, “DOCTOR”, (Plot 4; Evergreen Cemetery), Born: October 15, 1847. Deceased: May 13, 1926. Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America, in September, 1864, and served “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “I”, 1st “Lane’s Regiment” “Texas Cavalry”, C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Jasper County, Texas. He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service in June, 1865, by “Disbanding” of the Regiment at Caldwell, Texas. At which time he held the rank of “Private”. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor application…his writing). His wife: Kate Shaifer Sholars received a Confederate pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 45913.
