Adam C. Stewart
STEWART, ADAM C., (?)Plot 5; Evergreen Cemetery), Born: 1848. Deceased: 1916. Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America, at the age of seventeen. Enlisted in January, 1865, and served “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “E” of Spaight’s Battalion of “Dismounted Cavalry” “Texas Infantry”. C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Jasper, Texas. He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service in May, 1865, by Colonel Spaight on account of sickness, At that time he held the rank of “Private”. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor application…his writing). (note: Company “E” was formed at Jefferson County, Texas.)
