Our area is also fortunate to have community leaders who are in touch with the needs of the families and businesses who make the Mid-Cities their home. It is this combination of prime location and a sense of Community pride which has meant a population increase of the area from a few, widely scattered thousands in the 1950's to well over 225,000 today.
The average price for a home in the Mid-Cities is $125,000, but all types of homes are available from the small frame cottage starting at about $50,000 to luxury class homes in the million dollar plus price ranges. This wide diversity of available housing allow the Mid-Cities to accommodate all types of families within easy driving distance of major employers.
The types and styles of home construction are very diversified, although most homes are brick veneer exterior and built on a slab foundation. Styles vary from Victorian gingerbread to contemporary, with "traditional" remaining the favorite. Many of the homes are energy efficient and well insulated due to the extremes of temperatures common in the area. The "floating slab" foundation is used because of the high clay content of the soil which makes the ground expand and contract during wet and dry spells.
The average $125,000 home usually has from 1700 to 1800 square feet, three or four bedrooms, two baths, a full two car garage and is located on a 70' x 120' lot. Several Mid-Cities areas offer homes on one to five acre plots with plenty of room for horses, gardens, etc. for those who prefer a countryside atmosphere.
Many forms of home financing are available in the Mid-Cities, most new homeowners choose a 30 year fixed-rate mortgage. F.H.A. and VA loans are easily available as are conventional fixed and adjustable rate loans. With a down payment of as little as 5 percent of the purchase price, many mortgage companies specialize in home loans and make financing easy for the homebuyer. Your Century 21 Helen Ekrut agent is well equipped to inform you as to mortgage availability in your price range.
Owning your own home is pan of the American dream - providing both security and shelter for your family. All of us at Century 21 Helen Ekrut want to make your new home purchase an easy and pleasant experience. We hope to welcome you to our Mid-Cities community.
