I am a native Texan and I finally made it back home for good. I am in my early forties and lived the expatriate life (out of Texas) for over 20 years. There are some places that are nice to live (if not as nice as Texas) such as Welden, Bayern, BundesRepublik Deutschland, (the village of Welden in the State of Bavaria, ) and others (which shall remain nameless but forever cursed - e-mail for a list) make me wish that I was stationed someplace more civilized - such as Dallas (which I consider to be a rather rural or decadent version of a real city such as Houston or Austin!
I have a dark (warped/black/evil according to my friends) sense of humor. I find the Darwin Awards to be an integral part of our society both for humor and a guidebook for people who "think" they are smarter than the rest of us. Often, I have been paralyzed with laughter at some of the more innovative (ingenious) ways people have found to remove themselves from the gene pool. Sometimes you have to laugh at Death just to know that you are alive.
Do I feel sorry for those people - NO! I feel sorry for their families. People need to take responsibility for themselves and their families. They must consider the consequences of their actions. And if someone else or someone in their family is injured or killed as a result of their antics - prosecute them to the full extent of the law.
