The First Kiss - Thanksgiving 1995

I flew back to America slightly apprehensivly for my first Thanksgiving. At first we hedged around our feelings.

It all happened on Thanksgiving Day itself:- November 23rd 1995. We went to Jenn's Aunt Chris' for the meal, which in itself was an interesting experience. Afterwards we went to the Ganado cinema and watched the James Bond movie, Goldeneye. After the film had finished we inevitably ended up at the boat ramp on Lake Texana, which is where things had changed back in June. After a period of talking destiny was fulfilled and we just started kissing...a wonderful moment for the two of us as we finally confessed to each other that we were in love.

The rest of the visit was just an unbelievable time of joy, that had to come to an end all to soon. The first of many difficult goodbyes.

Richard and Jenn

I never believed in fairy tales,
Or scripts from Hollywood.
I never believed in true love,
Or passion that turns the head.
Now I believe
Or else how could you explain
How a girl from Texas,
And a boy from England,
Friends for years,
Going through bad times,
Losing touch,
Meeting again.
This time different,
As their lips touched,
In passion they embraced,
Under a clear Texas sky.
Yes! I believe in love,
Yet this is real life.
Could Spielberg or the Brothers Grimm
Write a story better than this.

Jenn and I in San Antonio, Texas just two days after that first kiss.
