It is my favorite type of food, and the best Tex-Mex food is really only availible in Texas. An example of Tex-Mex food would be chile con queso. I have rarely found any decent chile con queso out side of Texas. What is it? According to a friend of mine, it is the Godfather of Cheese Dips. It is the nectar of the gods. Anyway, if you find yourself in Texas, try these places:
- Casa Ole' - I have a special place in my heart for this restaurant, this is where I discovered TexMex as a child, along with the now defunct Monterrey House.
- Ninfa's - visit the original Ninfa's on Navigation in Houston's East End Barrio. It is delicious and played an important role in the history of TexMex food! Their fajitas and chili con queso are to die for!
- Chuy's - Try their spicy creamy ranch dip - an interesting new concoction!
- Taco Cabana - these places are everywhere, and open 24 hours a day! They serve high quality TexMex in a fast food format!
