Jesus Chrysler is an up and down roller coaster ride in the rock and roll amusement park. One minute we're soft and pretty, and the next minute it's the apocolypse. Our songs range from silly little tunes, to Pantera-like metal. You never know what to expect at a Jesus Chyrsler show. The best way to describe our music is by describing out influences. Robb is an almost manic performer, and he models himself after Mike Patton, Henry Rollins, Denis Leary, and too many others to list. Jon's guitar style can be traced to bands from They Might Be Giants to Entombed, and Deep Freeze Mice to the Wu-Tang Clan. Russell is your above average bass gutbucket slinger who almost worships Les Claypool and Flea. He likes almost anything that's bass heavy. Chris is rooted heavily into classic rock drummers like John Bohnam and Neil Peart. Mix up all of these elements and you have the perfect blend...JESUS CHRYSLER!!!
Jesus Chrysler began shortly after the break up of Robb and Jon's former band, ShitSeed. Robb wanted to create a new band that would bring a change to the Houston (and the rest of the world's) music scene. Jon and Robb had worked together in the past, so they knew what each one was capable of. At the University of Houston, Robb met Russell, a bass player in the UH orchestra. He seemed like a cool enough guy, so Robb decided to try him out for his new band. He was more than good, he was awesome. There wasn't anything he couldn't play. We now had 3/4 of a band. All we needed now was a drummer. We tried out a couple of different people, but for one reason or another, they just didn't work out. That is until Mel House introduced us to Chris. He could do more than just keep a beat. He could keep a beat even while sloppy ass drunk!
So here we are, turning a somewhat boring music city into a music mega-scene (that's for Jack. hehe). Who knows? Maybe you'll see us soon at a mall near you.
