The Bluegrass Page

Howdy and welcome to my Page for the Jack's Creek Bluegrass Festival.

The festival was held for the first time on October 20, 2001. It was a great success.

Jack's Creek Bluegrass is located approximately 4.5 miles southwest of Mexia, TX at the Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historical Park.

We started the day with an open stage session. This gave some people a chance to present themselves to the fans for the first time. Some of them may have been on an open stage at other festivals in the area and just wanted to opportunity to perform.

This young lady is Ashley Adams from the Houston area. She sang 4 or 5 songs and was really a pretty good singer. Her singing style wasn't Bluegrass but country.

Another group on the open stage was called Gloryland. They sang some Gospel songs and were well received. They are from Waco, Texas.

Here is their pic...

No Turning Back was also on the open stage and they also sang Gospel songs.

This group is from Cleburne, Texas.

At one p.m. our main program started.

We had the following groups come to the festival.

High Standard

Clover and Rachel were very interesting and lots of fun to watch.

We also had Lonestar Bluegrass Band

and last but not least we had No Strings Attached

The Second Annual Jackscreek Bluegrass Festival was held October 18, 19 2002. Despite the late Friday night and early Saturday morning rains it was held under the Pavilion at the park. Everyone stayed dry and enjoyed the show. Below are some pics from the two day event.

The Sitze Family Bus

The Sitze Family is from Fredricktown, Missouri. They were a very popular band at the festival.

Clover and Rachel came back for our second festival and were also popular with the fans.

Heavenbound Bluegrass from Trinitiy, Texas performed both days of the festival.

A group from Lake Jackson, Texas came to the festival and they were liked by all of the fans. They are called Pet Rooster and were a lot of fun to watch and hear.

Perhaps one of the most fun groups was Star Canyon Band from San Antonio, Texas. They have been booked for next year's fesitval

Our headline group this year was from the city of Groesbeck, Texas.

Their leader is Karl Shiflett.
