Hey! Welcome to the jumps section of CheerWorld! Don't you just love that graphic up there? hehehe, I thought it was kind of cute. I drew it all by myslef with my mouse. Ok, now back to the subject at hand: jumps. In this section you will find pictures of me doing the jumps. Read the caption on how to do them, and before long if you practice, yours will be great! OK, have fun!
Toetouch!
hehehe, ignore the expression, ok? I was trying to smile and...well, I look goofy! Anyway, start with your legs together and your arms in a high V. Swing your arms across your chest and down past your knees, then use them to pull yourself up. When you start to jump, throw both of your legs out in a stradle. Make sure you sit into your jump and keep your arms in a T. This is probably one of the more difficult jumps, so if you don't get it on your first try, keep trying!
Pike!
Now I must admit, I'm not too good at this jump. It's rare to find people who can do it, being that it requires a ton of stomach muscle and even more practice. Nevertheless, turn to the side for this jump before you start. Start like a normal jump, except when you swing your arms and bring them to a motion, bring them to a "touchdown" motion. Technically, you are supposed to bring your legs up to your chest as you bend over. It's natural though at first to pull your chest down more than you should. Keep working at it, and it'll come!
Side Hurdler!
For this jump, turn to the side as well. Start as a normal jump, then bring your arms to a "touchdown" motion. Depending on your favorite leg, swing that up as high as you can, and bend your other leg to where it basically hits your rear. Although it's kind of hard, whip your legs down and land with your feet together! That's it!
Left Herkie!
This is my "bad leg"..yuck! Anyway, start out like a normal jump, then swing your arms to a "T" motion. Bring your left leg straight out, and your right leg bent like it was sitting on top of a table. Whip your legs down and land with them together!
Right Herkie!
This jump is the exact opposite of the left herkie. Instead of the left leg being straight, straighten the right leg and bend the left as if it was on a table top. With some practice, you'll have this one down too!
Kick!
This is about the most simple thing you can do, yet it looks really good if you can get your leg high. Whichever leg you can get highest, kick it straight up, and try to keep your other leg straight. Put your arms in either a high "V" or a "T."
