Houston Rockets 31-19

Los Angeles Lakers 31-19

LA puts an end to the rockets season in   a  98-88 win.
Lakers win series 3-1

Game 4 Recap
In a day where already 2 teams won their series 3-1 the Rockets were hopping that they would not be the third. Their chances would even be better when they found out that Glen Rice would sit on the Laker bench in street clothes because of an injury .But when Shaq has way scoring 37 and Kobe scoring 24 they presented a 2-Punch combo that they Rockets just could not handle.Hakeem Olajuwon and Scottie Pippen appeared to be injured but both came back. At one time in the first half they were down by as many as 17 points but managed to cut that to a 11 point Laker lead at half time. We had our chances in the third quarter but just could not convert. So the jinx continues as the Rockets go 0-10 on NBC.

Granted he did have a 37 point playoff performance we still leave this comentary up.

Pippen a 68 million Bust?

It’s hard to say it but getting Scottie could have been one of the worst moves the rockets ever made. At first it seemed like a dream come true for the rockets. Getting one of the 50th greatest players in the NBA. He has been averaging close to 20 points a game with the bulls. Tagged with Olajuwon and Barkley was supposes to be one of the greatest teams ever put together. But this season was any thing but that, Pippen has been scoring less than 15 points a game although he has been playing most of the entire game.So almost all the points he earns come on fast break points or three point shots (which he bricks) He’s been complaining about the offense all year. Hears the big problem Rudy has already determined the offense, Get the ball into Hakeem and Charles and if they don’t take it they pass it out to one of the spot up shooters like Bullard, Mack, or Price. There’s no set plays for pippen. OK so that’s Rudys fault. You have expensive artillery out their and your not even using it. I’m sure Pippen would love for the rockets to use the old Triangle offense that won the Chicago Bulls 6 NBA championships, but why change for one player. If pippen says he’s not a part of the offense then how to you justify the scoring of dickerson and mobley who each average about 10 a game. In Chicago Scottie was a slasher who loved to take it to the hoop, dunk it and get to the free throw line. After getting the ball to the post you can often see him just stand around so when they finally do give the ball up he would rather just shoot a trey instead of driving to the basket. All of his statistics are down this year, points, rebounds, steals, and blocks. His field goal and free throw percentages have gone down as well.

Scottie had a great reputation as a great defender. But this season how do you explain the career highs of John Crotty and Bryon Russell, Sean Elliott season high and a torching by Detlef Schrimph and the list goes on. All these players happened to be guarded by pippen. Its time to step up your game Scottie because the rockets are going to need you in the playoffs.
