New Equipment Training Plan

A. Course Title: LRAS3 Operator Course

B. Purpose: To provide selected personnel with the ability to perform effective missions and operator maintenance on LRAS3.

C. Prerequisets:

Land Navigation
HMMWV Operations
Vehicle Recognition Training

D. Length: 32 hours

E. Training Location: Ft. Hood, TX.

F. Materials Needed:

5 Laptop computers
1 Classroom w/ 5 outlets, 120 VAC
10 Operators Manuals
1 CVAM/MELIOS
 2 LRAS3 systems

G. Academic Subjects:

Thermal Recognition.
Sensor Familiarization and operation.
LRAS Operations.
LRAS Concepts, Safety, & Power Mgmt.
CVAM Calibration.
Boresight Procedures.
Operators Maintenance Training.

H. Non-Academic subjects: System Overview

Training Task Outlines

TASK:
Thermal Recognition

CONDITION:
Classroom.

STANDARDS:
Identify vehicles thru IR sensors.
Understand sensor characteristics.

TASK:
System Overview.

CONDITION:
Classroom

STANDARDS:
Understand the LRAS concept.
Understand of the impact on mission planning.
Understand the basics of FLIRS.
Understand how, when, and why the different sensors are selected.
Identify sensor limitations and methods to exploit their capabilities.

TASK:
Sensor Familiarization and Operations

CONDITION:
LRAS3 in a training enviroment.

STANDARD:
Understand how, when, and why the different sensors are selected.
Identify sensor limitations and methods to exploit their capabilities.
Understand selection and operation LRAS3 sensors.

TASK:
LRAS Operations

CONDITIONS:
LRAS in a training enviroment.

STANDARDS:
Soldiers will be able to perform the following tasks:
power-up system.
Locate suitable terrain for operations.
Select and control sensors.
Adjust operators monitors and controls.

TASK:
LRAS Concepts, Safety, and Power Management

CONDITIONS:
Classroom.

STANDARD:
Understand weight distribution issues.
Understand what conditions may present hazards.
Understand power consumption issues.
Understand how to operate the HWMMV with the LRAS system installed.

TASK:
CVAM  Calibration.

CONDITION:
Classroom

STANDARD:
Crews will understand CVAM calibration techniques.

TASK:
Boresight procedures.

CONDITION:
LRAS

STANDARD:
Crews will understand boresighting techniques.

TASK:
Operators maintenance training.

CONDITION:
LRAS and classroom.

STANDARD:
Crews will be capable of performing the following tasks:
Lubricate Pan\Tilt assy.
Clean lenses
PMCS
Troubleshooting
