One Last Night

She looked up into the dark, velvety, star filled night sky. She thought of all that was and all that had been in her long life. She remembered times full of love and life and happiness and time of death and war and pain. She knew that she had seen more then anyone else in her 123 years on this planet but it was over now. Life had taken all it could from her and she had no place on the green planet anymore. Everything had changed far too much for her to handle, from the days of horses and farmland that spread as far as the eye could see to mile high skyscrapers and the information super highway. Now walking one block in her hometown and she knew that she would see at least one person that had been mugged or raped or attacked with a gun or knife. It was too much for her. She knew that she could live hundreds of thousands of years more if she wanted, she looked like she was only 18 years old but she was still aged in the soul and she knew her time had come. She took one last glimpse around and then plunged off the cliff into the raging sea as the storm grew in its fury, and as she hit the waves she died.
