Sargeant Clifford E.Stone,U.S.Army ret.,will speak at the July 25th meeting at the El Paso
MUFON Chapter at 1:00 P.M. in room 275 of the El Paso Community College,Rio Grande
Campus.Sgt.Stone is the author of the book UFOs are Real:Extraterrestrial Encounters
Documented by the U.S.Government.An introduction to the book was written by renowned
Ufologist,Stanton Friedmann,author of Crash at Corona and Top Secret Majic.
Stone began doing research for his book while still on active duty.when his superiors became
aware of his activities they attempted to force his retirement through the use pressure,intimidation
and insinuation."My command ordered me to undergo a mental health evaluation at Fort Bliss,Texas
because I was writing Freedom of Information Act request concerning UFOs and talking to the
media,"says Stone."In the final analysis,I was cleared of any wrong doing and reinstated in my job."
As a result of the harassment that Stone had received,three members of his command were relieved
of duty and reassigned.Today,Stone lives in Roswell,N.M. and continues to write and lecture on the
topic of UFOs and government secrecy.His specialty is uncovering classified documents that prove
the government's long-standing interest in UFOs.His book is full of excerpts taken from many such
documents never before released to the public.With regard to the government's continued denial
of UFO information,Stone says:"I'm of the opinion that we are not encountering bureaucratic
incompetence,but purposeful deceit,cover up and obstruction."
