1964 - TOP Eliminator winner at Green Valley Raceway’s “ALL ATAR MEET” with the record holding C/Fuel dragster.

AHRA B/Fuel World Champion and runner-up to Bobby Langley for overall Top Eliminator. (Had Langley covered on a hole shot until the blower pop-off Valve popped off. Oh well, that’s racing!)

1965 - Expense paid invitation to Bakersfield, CA for holding the Drag News #4 spot in the nation, by taking the position from Bob Crietz’s car in Arkansas City, KS. Bob’s choice of racing venue - Charlie was from Dallas and Bob from Tulsa.

This was the last event held at Green Valley before it was shut down because of nearby housing development.

1991 - The drag racing bug struck again! He returned to competition to win the Goodguy’s Indy Hot Rod Happenin in Junior Fuel.

1991 to 2003 - He drove the Chrysler powered Junior Fuel dragster of Ron and Mardy Ussery. The car was brand new at the first California Hot Rod Reunion. This beautiful car still has the original paint job done by Charlie and Robin Smith.
