"Blown Income" Outlaw Fuel Altered
TEAM INFORMATION:
Driver - Mark Bowman
Driver Bio - I started out playing with hotrod boats, nothing competitive, just for fun. Then TVRP in Noble was built and I took a 66 Chevy pickup I bought to pro street and thought I'd try it bracket racing. It didn't take but a couple of seasons for me to realize it just wasn't for me. I got involved with a bunch of guys and we started the PSRA (pro street racing association). It’s mostly a local (OKC) area car club for racers, but it is all heads-up and very few restrictions. I saw this group run at the Heartland Hot Rod race at TVRP and thought that I might like to give this a try sometime. After several years of racing my 66 Chevy pickup which started out at a portly 4000 lbs. and ended up after several major changes and many thousands of dollars got down to 3000 lbs. I then bought a 2000 Pontiac Firebird which was a purpose built race car and put the motor and trans from the truck in it. The Pontiac was definitely much quicker and a hell of a lot of fun to drive. The thing I found out was it was just another swoopy race car and just didn't have that cool factor that the truck had.
If an altered didn't have anything else it would be the cool factor. To me they're the bad boys of drag racing. So here I am it has been every bit the challenge that I thought it would be but at the same time an absolute hoot to drive. I've had all four tires off the ground several times and came back with an ear to ear grin on my face every time. I kind of feel like I've come home. I want to add the people that make up this group have got to be some of the most helpful I've ever seen. I posted on this web site about a problem I was having with the car and within an hour I received three phone calls from people that didn't know me from adam, that's saying something. My crew is made up of guys that just like being at the races but sometimes we just can't get loose all at the same time so consequently we miss some races. I'd have to thank my wife Ann for putting up with all the time I spend working on and racing the car as she doesn't share my love of the sport.
