Owner / Crew Chief - Terry Darby

Hometown - Garland, Texas

Bio - Terry’s career in drag racing spans 45 years beginning with the Texas Pro Stock Association, then moving to the All American Funny Car Association. He has one AHRA Pro Stock Championship and two NHRA Top Alcohol funny car wins, the 1980 NHRA Sports Nationals and 1981 NHRA Cajun Nationals. Eventually he had the opportunity to work on a variety of Division Four based fuel funny cars including Ricky Sharp’s Head Sportswear sponsored AA/FC, Tom Akers “Wizard” AA/FC and the world Famous Blue Max AA/FC. In 2010 Terry fielded the ‘Assassin” Fuel Altered with Chris Trussell driving. After sitting out the 2014 season Terry renamed the car “Nitro Relapse” and selected former Fuel Altered pilot Eric Buchannan as the new driver. In his spare time Terry works as a top end mechanic on Ronny Young’s Blue Max N/FC.

Bio - Eric started bracket racing in the early 90’s with a front engine dragster that he acquired from Bobby Marriott and raced multiple rear engine and altered bracket cars up until 2000. Eric had purchased a 34 roadster with a blown Big Block Chevy and a B&J trans and started running with the fuel altereds and learning my way on blown engines with the help from Bobby Marriott. We had lots of carnage through the learning curve! Later we purchased Howard Farris' blown Keith Black altered and we were finally able to compete.

The car ran 4.17 @ 182 mph and we retired in 2005 and now have the chance of a life time to drive Terry Darby's "Nitro Relapse" fuel car and man this is a ride! I think our team did great for the first year out in 2015. Best run 3.85 @ 194 and we know there is more in this car but we are happy to run with the fuel altereds and satisfied with our performance. All of us are looking forward to 2016 and getting back with a great group of people.
