Driver Bio - I have been around drag racing my whole life. My dad and uncle raced A and B/Altered roadsters in the 60's. I started racing my 69 Camaro Z/28 street car while still in high school around 1972-73. I bought an acid dipped '69 Pro Stock Camaro about 1975 and ran with the original "Texas Pro Stock Association" of that time. In the late 70’s I ran the only Shelby Mustang Pro Stock car in the country, then the later model, short wheel base Mustang II.

When NHRA rules made the Fords not competitive, we switched to the more favored 1980 big block Camaro, and, with the help of Terry Darby, we were very successful on the AHRA National and NHRA Divisional level. The first time Nancy ever attended a drag race was the AHRA Spring Nationals at the “old” Alamo Dragstrip in San Antonio-which we won-and she hasn’t missed a race since.

My dad and uncle stayed involved throughout the Pro Stock years, but never really bonded with the Funny Car. When NHRA went to the 500 cu/inch rules, none of our combinations worked, so we sold our Camaro and quit. After a while, I built a Pro Stock/style 1967 Corvette to run a new NHRA class called Super Gas. I never had a race car without a clutch pedal, so after three races with an automatic, I sold it!

This brought me back in contact with Terry Darby and we teamed up and purchased the "original" Shockwave Firebird Funny Car from my old Pro Stock friend, Ronny Young. We ran with the "All American Funny Car Association" most of the 80's and early 90's. That was a lot of fun. We made some great 'wild' friends!

When the "All American Funny Car Association" died, I really missed racing with a close knit group like the funny car guys, and that is what lead to the forming of the Outlaw Fuel Altered Association in 1996. We now have several members from the old Funny Car Association, along with Charter members and members from at least 7 states! I now have the chance to race with and against some great people, and have had a little success along the way.

I guess when you have been doing something since 1972, as they say, "The rest is history!" Anyway, that’s how I remember it!
