Wichita Nostalgia Nationals Results
Wichita Raceway Park
The second event of the 2015 MalloryPrint.com SHRA racing season brought the tour to Wichita Raceway Park in Wichita Falls, Texas where all six classes were in action! Under sunny skies and comfortable temperatures, over 75 cars packed the pits ready to drag race old school style. The call went out from SHRA announcer David Rattan to bring them to the lanes for the first time trial and racing was underway shortly after noon.
In Nostalgia Eliminator 1 (4.65 Index), Jason O'Neill and the "Bad Behavior" team dominated competition by qualifying number one and advancing to the final round where O'Neill took on Chris Graves. Graves had qualified number two as the top qualifiers were set for battle, but Graves went red and had the best seat in the house to watch O'Neill blast to his first SHRA NE 1 event win with a dead-on 4.65 elapsed time at 141 mph!
In Nostalgia Eliminator 2 (5.00 Index), Bruce Dodson proved he had a handle on the competition by also qualifying number one and advancing to the final round where he squared off with first time finalist Rick Taylor and the "Nitro Monkey" team dragster. Taylor fell off in the final, while Dodson posted a strong 5.01 at 136 mph to claim victory in Wichita Falls.
The Nostalgia Eliminator 3 (5.50 Index) class provided some great racing with defending event champion Carl Johnson qualifying number one and advancing to the final round to take on defending series champion Dusty Rose. Rose took a slight starting line advantage and his 5.51 at 119 mph took the win light over Johnson's break out 5.48 at 124 mph in a close side by side drag race.
The SHRA crowned it's first Nostalgia Super Stock winner in series history at Wichita Falls as Vic Corlett defeated David Ardoin in the final round. Vic also was the top qualifier at this event and the SHRA is looking forward to what this new class will bring in 2015.
Old School Electronics brought twenty one cars to first round and by the end of the day, Rick Sellers and Stephen Luna met in the final round. Sellers was off the line first by .002 and at the stripe it was unbelievably close as Sellers just nosed out Luna at the stripe to take the win light.
Old School No-Electronics action hosted a twenty car field which dwindled down to Greg Dollar and John Jung. Dollar won this one on the starting line with a stellar .008 light and defending his win from last year, claiming his second straight SHRA win at Wichita Falls.
