This is a precision made replica of the Marconi Side-Lever key. New in November 2003 by G0NVT in England. The base is about 5 inches by 9 inches. Another of G0NVT's very precision made replica keys called the Marconi "Grasshopper" key. The original type was used by Marconi in very early experiments and on ships and shore stations(1899). Initially developed by Marconi around 1896. The long ebonite arm fell into place when the key was not used for sending, thus connecting the aerial with the receiver.
