Chapter 7

As the lights went dim, I saw several figures come out onto the stage. I was about to start screaming when I noticed that there were four of them; therefore, I reasoned, they were not Hanson, but Admiral Twin. They started playing, and Michelle and I thoroughly enjoyed it. After five or six songs, they left the stage to loud cheering (for them, not for the fact that they were leaving). A translucent sheet was hung at the front of the stage, so we could not see what was going on. We could see lights behind the sheet, but that was all. I was so excited that I could not sit (or stand) still.

"Monica, calm down!" Michelle said finally. "They'll come out when they are ready to come out."

"I know," I replied, "but that doesn't make it any easier to wait. Besides, do you see anyone else here who is calm? I think you're the only person in the whole place who isn't excited."

"I am excited," Michelle protested. "I just don't feel like wasting my energy jumping around now, when if I wait just about 15 minutes, Hanson will be here, and we can really start to party."

"Only 15 minutes?!" I exclaimed. "I can't wait! But I guess I will try to calm down, so I can enjoy the concert more." I sat down to wait impatiently.

Finally, the event happened for which I had been waiting. As familiar notes filled the air, the sheet disappeared to reveal the three blond guys at their instruments. I had jumped to my feet as soon as the music started, and now I started singing along to "Where's the Love". After quick glances at Isaac and Zac, my gaze settled on Taylor.

"Hello, San Antonio!" greeted Ike when the song finished.

"It is great to be here!" added Zac.

Taylor put in his famous "Are you guys ready to rock??" line, which got a huge response from the audience, including me. Apparently the response wasn't large enough, though, because Taylor then repeated, "I said, are you guys ready to ROCK??!!"

I screamed at the top of my lungs, "YES!!!!!", as did everyone else there. The band then launched into one of their new songs.

Two hours and twenty songs later, Taylor announced, "This will be our last song. We dedicate it to all our fans. Thank you all for coming!" With that, they started my favorite Hanson song, "I Will Come To You". I sang along with all my heart, waving my arms back and forth like all the other people there. Near the end of the song, Taylor left the keyboard and walked along the edge of the stage touching hands, like Ike and Zac had done earlier in the night. As he passed my seat, it happened. Our hands touched. Our eyes met. The next instant, it was over, but it was a moment I would remember for the rest of my life.
