As the triplets entered the house, their mother came to greet them. "Hello girls! How was your last day of school as freshmen?"
"Well, the school part was fine," replied Tara.
Kara put in, "We got the mail. We got three letters."
Mrs. Johnson knew exactly what letters they were talking about. "And...?" she hinted.
"Nothing," Sara said, still upset.
"I'm sorry," their mother replied sympathetically.
Tara smiled bravely. "I'm sure we'll get accepted soon enough. But I'm tired of worrying about this. Let's get online!"
The sisters ran to the computer. Kara and Sara were arguing again; Kara wanted to check Mariah's homepage and Sara wanted to check Hanson's homepage.
Tara solved this difficulty by saying, "I am going to get on first. I'll check both homepages, okay?" She went to Hanson's first. There were no tour dates yet. She knew there wouldn't be any. She knew they were still recording. She went to Mariah's next. After some clicking around to find the tour dates, since Mariah was on tour at the moment, she scrolled down to see if there were any new ones.
"Stop!" Kara exclaimed suddenly. "I thought I saw something. Go back up."
As Tara scrolled back up, she saw what she had missed the first time - a date Mariah would be performing near them. "Awesome!"
Kara by this time was nearly fainting. "Awesome!?!?! Is that all you can say??? Mariah Carey is coming to perform in our city and all you can say is awesome!?!?!?! This is beyond awesome!!! This is...this is...this is totally...totally...alright, alright, it's totally awesome!" She ran into her parents' room yelling, "Mariah Carey is coming to town!!! Can we go see her perform??? Please???"
Mrs. Johnson followed her daughter to the computer. "Well, I don't know. Is there anything else going on?"
"No. Please!!!" Kara begged.
"Oh, I guess so."
"YES!!!!!" Kara shrieked.
"Hey, what about me?" Sara protested. "What am I gonna do while you two are at the concert? I will not go to a Mariah Carey concert, and you know that!"
Tara turned to her sister. "I have an idea. How about if you come with us to the Mariah Carey concert..." She was interrupted by a triumphant exclamation from Kara. Tara looked at Kara, then continued. "...and then, when Hanson comes here, Kara will come to that concert with us." This time it was Sara's turn to gloat.
Although both sisters protested at first, they eventually agreed to Tara's plan.
