Tournament Results: July 12, 1998 Constructed Deck Tournament:Houston, Texas by Alan SteinbergHi all,I must thank every one who came for this tourney on Sunday, we started a little late, and some people joined us late, while others had to leave a little early, overall I think we might have set a record with a total of 20 participants! Every one who played recieved at least 1 pack, other than Steve Bonario, who asked that his pack be given to last place. We started the first round a little late, and we really never did catch up, but I think evey one had a good time. I was also quite pleased that we had a diverse race sign up, with no one race being dominant. First round went by pretty well, and it was the most interesting by far. First off, for unforseen circumstances one of the Narn players, Andy Bierre, was forced to leave early, even before his game ended. We saw Z'ha'dum Awakened droped in less then 10 turns by David K. playing Human, and then 5 min later Wes Brown, also playing human, droped his. The first game ended in 45 min, with the next two ending about 30 min later. Game 5 with Kyle, Johnna, and Mike P. seemed like it would go forever since Johnna's Order Above All got Forced Impaired, the game ended up getting called on time. At the end of this round we see high scores for the Centari and Narn players. The 2nd round began with a late
entry of Jeff Toschlog playing Narn, making a good replacement for the
Narn player who had to leave in the 1st round. Not much happened
in round 2, with most games ending in about the same time frames as the
round before. But game 1 between Wes, Mike G., Steve
After the second round, we lost
Steve Bonario (Centauri) who was doing great. The 3rd round went
by pretty smoothly. Game 1 was interesting has Jon wins over his
wife Johnna who had 27 power with her Major agenda and could just not quite
start the Shadow War. We still had 2 undefeated Centauri
After this round, may people had to leave, and the final game did not start until about 8:15pm. This was a verry interesting game, between Wes, Johnna, Jon and Mike G., but in the end Johnna won with a Major victory, but believe me, it was close there for a while, and she took home the Past Victories. This tourney was very much a success. 1st and 2nd place for each race took home special promo/winners cards. And every one had fun, the important part. Well here are the final scores: (by race) Centauri:
Human:
Minbari:
Narn:
Lets not forget--next constructed deck tournament we WILL have more than 24 people. |
