Anime Weekend Atlanta 2014
I am starting to go out of region and try to get Secret Agent Fangirl out to more people. This year, I decided to go to Atlanta and be at Anime Weekend Atlanta. Traveling by car, it took a while to get there. I really wanted to get a picture of the Mississippi river. However, going to Atlanta, I arrived at Vicksburg at 9:30 pm and it was pitch black on the river. Coming back, I stopped in Vicksburg, but in the morning, it was pouring down rain and hard to see anything. :\
The con itself was very fun. One thing I didn't expect was all the steep hills of Smyrna. My hotel room was actually partially underground as the hotel was built on the side of a steep hill. It was like being in the hill country west northwest of San Antonio. Another thing people warned me about was the traffic. Traffic was a breeze compared to the usual gridlock I suffer through in Dallas. I actually arrived in Atlanta Thursday at 5:00. It only took me 13 minutes to get from I-20 and I-285 to I-285 and I-75. In Dallas, the same distance along I-635 at the same relative time would easily take twice as long (especially along the construction area near I-35E.)
The theme this time is Yuusibu (a.k.a. Yuushibu, or I Couldn't Become a Hero, so I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job.) In this anime, hero Raul Chaser was training to be a hero to fight the demon lord. Right before he graduates, the demon lord is defeated and peace declared. He then gets a job at an electronics store named Leon. Also working there is the demon lord's daughter, who doesn't want to follow in his footsteps. Also complicating things is another electronics shop named Amada. They are ruthlessly trying to destroy the competition by any means possible.
