Sandy:
Thank you for what you have done.
Thought you might like to know that I attended our Memorial Service. It was held at the Memorial site. The people of Houston donated over one million dollars for a memorial for the local officers killed in the line of duty. It is located near the main police station and is where the Memorial Service is held each year.
Later that day I attended a promotion ceremony for six lieutenants and sixty five sergeants. It was the largest promotion ceremony in the history of our city.
Then I attended a Promise Keepers convention with my son and finally on that Friday I found you note on the 50+ BB and found you page.
It seemed a fitting end to the day we honor those who gave their all.
There have been 48 officers killed in the line of duty since I joined the department and I have personally known many of them. It has been almost 38 years since I attended the academy and one of our classmate's name is on that honor roll for our department. He was killed four years after we joined the department. I still find it difficult to hear his name called during the Roll Call of Honor.
Your work is especially meaningful to me and I appreciate what you have done. I also want you to know I salute the memory of you father.
For years here we had a motto that said, "The badge means you care!" Certainly he proved that to be the case.
Should you ever visit Houston, I would be honored if I might be of service to you or your family
Again, my gratitude for what you have done.

Congratulations!! You've just been awarded the Cops & L.E.O. Site of Distinction Award!
***The memory of your dad shines in your work on your site. I'm so sorry and I feel for your loss. In your poem to your dad, you said you didn't get to say your last goodbye, but know that God has made him aware of all these things, he knows you loved him, he knows you still do and that you care...he knows about all you're doing to keep his memory alive and not for a second let anyone forget that he was here on this earth and what he did when he was here. I'm truly sorry for your loss, Sandy...and this award is for the both of you.
Sincerely,
Robin Simpson
