My husband and I went to San Francisco to have crabcakes and eat
at The Stinking Rose. The atmosphere is nice with many different
newspaper and magazine articles about garlic, framed and hung on the walls.
We ordered the main appetizer, Bagna Calda, but it is
basicly roasted garlic with olive oil and a touch of anchovy
sauce. This was wonderful!!!
We also had the garlic barbeque chicken pizzette. BBQ chicken
pizza is a favorite of my husband's and he found this
one outstanding!
Lastly we also shared the Garlic Meatloaf and Garlic Mashed
Potatoes. I found the meatloaf a bit too spicy (not garlic)
but my husband seemed to love it. The potatoes were very good,
something similar to what I made at home previously.
We even had a to-go box because this was more than we could eat.
All in all a satisfying experience...though a bit expensive for
some people.
Yoshi's Japanese Fast Food....Fort Worth, TX....visited July 5, 1999
My husband doesn't really like sushi but will let me indulge when I want.
This small little restaurant was recommended by one of his colleagues.
They have sushi rolls at a very reasonable price, actually the cheapest I have
ever seen. Tim prefers the teriyaki bowls but all in all this is a very good,
inexpensive place to get Japanese fast food. Two thumbs up!!!
Bayou Boys Specialty Market....North Richland Hills/ Lewisville, TX....visited August 26, 1999
My husband kept seeing a commercial on Food Network for this store and knew he had to try
what they have to offer! So today we went on an adventure to see what we could see.
We purchased the Alligator Piquant and the chicken breast stuffed with Alligator Piquant as well as
a crawfish pie. All are awesome! We were told by the owner that the Piquant was medium happy spicy. My friend that we served it to thought
it was a bit too "happy, happy" and did not finish her portion because of it. So if you love Cajun food this is the place to go or order from!!!
Hot Damn, Tamales....Fort Worth, TX....taste tested September 6, 1999
We got some Wild Mushroom and Goat Cheese Tamales from a local specialty market. My husband loves tamales but I usually don't because so often they are dried out. These were not; in fact, they were rather moist! I really did not see or taste the goat cheese specificly but the mushrooms were delectable.
We both enjoyed the tamales by themselves; however, we also feel that they need some kind of creme sauce to bring out some of the flavors. Good food but could use some of our own tinkering. Since I haven't made tamales in over 10 years, these are worth getting and making the sauce! We recommend them!
The website states they will ship them to you. So, if you have the chance, try them for yourselves as there are many varieties to choose from.
