JUNE CATHEY TERRY, 102, died Nov. 22, 2001
in Houston, TX, with interment at Evergreen
Cemetery in Ranger, TX.
She was born on June 14, 1899 in Leon Junction,
TX to Lovedy Burt and Henry Rutherford Cathey.
She attended Ranger High School in the Class of
1918 and married Jack M. Terry, Sr. in 1934. They
were married for 51 years before he passed away.
She received her Bachelors degree from Abilene
Christian College and a Masters degree from the
University of Houston.
She taught school for 44 years, 15 years at Ranger
and the last 23 years in Houston ISD. She was a
member of the First United Methodist Church in
Houston and while living in Ranger was a member
of the First Baptist Church in Ranger. She was
a member of the Bethlehem Chapter #728 and Order
of the Eastern Star in Houston and was a past
member of the Ranger Order of the Eastern Star
Chapter #275. She was also a member of the Texas
Retired Teachers Association, Phi Kappa Phi.
Mrs. Terry lived in three centuries (1899-2001).
Survivors at the time of her death are a son,
Jack M. Terry, Jr. and his wife Eden R. Terry
of Houston; grandsons, Jack M. Terry, III and
Joseph Denney Terry both of Houston; a sister-
in-law, Ruth Terry Denney (RHS-1918) of El Dorado,
AR.
