WAURINE REAGOR LONG, 100, died on April 25,
2007 in Abilene, TX, with burial in Elmwood Memorial
Park.
The daughter of Josephine (Hale) & George William
Reagor, she was born on Oct. 15, 1906, in Llano, TX,
& graduated from Ranger High School in 1924 at Ranger,
TX. She received an associate degree at Ranger Jr.
College & attended both Hardin-Simmons and McMurry
Universities in Abilene. She was a social worker for
the State of Texas in the Department of Human Services
for 25 years, having worked in Ranger, Albany, Levelland,
Gainesville (10 years), and Abilene. She first moved to
Abilene in 1951. After retirement from the State of
Texas in 1967, she taught school (4th grade) in San
Antonio for one year (1968-69), returning to Abilene
in 1969.
Waurine was a member of First Baptist Church, Abilene
and the Lightbearers Sunday School Class. She was
active in the genealogical society.
She was predeceased by her son, David William Long,
in 2001; two grandsons, Lance Daven Long & Keith Long;
her parents; a sister, Vera Pearl Reagor; & a brother,
J.D. Reagor.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Andrian Basson of
Allen, Texas; three great-grandchildren; nieces and
nephews, Anita Buster and husband, James, of Clyde,
Betty Hunsucker and husband, Nathan, of Booneville,
AR, and twins, Rosalind Greene and husband, Bruce,
of Cape Coral, FL, & Ronald Reagor and wife, Sheri,
of Connecticut.
