EFFIE MAE WILLIAMS BARTON, 87, passed from her family
and friends into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus
Christ, Jan. 24, 2002, in Fort Worth, TX, with burial
in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Effie Mae Williams Barton was born on Jan. 19, 1915,
in Ballinger. She grew up in Ranger, TX where she
went to Ranger Jr. College, coaching the school's
girl's basketball team to help pay her tuition.
In Ranger she met and married Terrance Barton. They
had two sons, David and Don. In 1942 she moved her
family to Fort Worth and accepted a position with
Convair. Effie worked as a design engineer until
her retirement in 1983.
Up until this past year Effie loved to play bridge,
to bowl, to work in her yard, to do volunteer work
for the Retired Business Women's Association, and
she was an active member of the Ridglea West Baptist
Church.
Survivors at the time of her death are; sons, David
Barton and wife, Sandra, Don Barton and wife, Judy;
five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Her sister was Jessie Williams Nelson (RHS-1929).
